Indoor Pollution Testing
In Homes
An advanced service we provide is indoor pollution testing.
We feel that it is important to offer testing and inspection for evidence of chemicals and other indoor pollutants. This service is also known as indoor air quality testing or IAQ testing. If you feel your in need of our services feel free to call: 1-888-381-6651.
The Problem
A wide array of common building material related chemicals such as formaldehyde and VOC’s can cause health complaints.
The problem is more common than many realize.
Common Situations That Cause Chemical Related Indoor Air Pollution In Homes:
Chemical Storage Practices.
(Chemicals stored in AC closets and garages. For example: paint, paint removers, varnish, pesticides and weed killers, gasoline inside gases cans and generators, and lighter fluid.)
The Instillation of New Construction Materials.
(New cabinets, engineered wood flooring boards, carpets, and paints are the big four.)
The Presence of Some Electrical Devices
(Air purifiers, and UV lights are common devices that produce ozone.)
Click here for more on ozone and devices that produce ozone.
Personal Care Products
Even the use of common every-day personal care products like perfumes, nail polish remover, and hair care products, can cause a build-up of very unhealth indoor pollutants over time.
Common Household Product Use
Even the use of common every-day household products like and air fresheners, disinfectants, bathroom cleaning chemicals, floor cleaners, bleach and bug spray, can cause a build-up of very unhealth indoor pollutants over time.
Common Situations That Cause Chemical Related Indoor Air Pollution in Commercial Office Buildings:
Chemical Storage Practices.
(Chemicals of various types, but especially janitorial chemicals such as cleaning chemicals and air fresheners stored in janitors closets and also, janitorial chemicals stored in AC closets and large HVAC rooms.)
The Instillation of New Construction Materials.
(New cabinets, carpets, and office cubicle partition walls, new office furniture such as desks, and also new paint.)
Hysteria
We look for actual sources of indoor air pollution problems and typically find real indoor pollution problems. However, on rare occasions, office gossip, a bad work environment, stress, and rumors can cause hysteria that causes people to believe they are ill when they are not ill. However, we assume that it is likely that a true air quality problem is present, and we look for it.
If the problem may be hysteria, or complainants have an ulterior motive like “getting back at management”. We do not feed into it and create fear and hype about a problem that is not present.
Some inspectors, especially in the mold industry feed into such situations, Therefore, as a result, they can create fear and get more testing for themselves. They also create unneeded mold removal work for their buddies in the remediation industry.
In conclusion, we remain open minded about indoor pollution, and non-bias and always to report the truth.
What About Indoor Pollution Testing For Air Contaminants in Schools, Manufacturing Facilities, And Other Commercial Buildings?
Manufacturing Practices
(Chemicals of various types, but especially solvents, cleaning chemicals, dyes and paints, and more can be commonly used. In South Florida we do not have much manufacturing. However, in the rare cases that items are manufactured or processed in a light industrial setting, much higher concentrations of chemicals are used than in all the above mentioned situations.)
Chemical Storage Practices.
(Chemicals of various types, but especially janitorial chemicals such as cleaning chemicals and air fresheners stored in janitors closets and also, janitorial chemicals stored in AC closets and large HVAC rooms.)
We have done indoor air testing for man-made pollutants in government buildings, and other types of commercial buildings. Many of our air quality tests have been done in commercial buildings where workers complain of health issues that appear to be related to chemicals and odors.
We have also done some investigations in buildings such as:
- Advertising and printing facilities.
Buildings were vitamins and supplements are manufactured.
Buildings where solvents are used to clean lenses and sensitive equipment.
Marine biology research lab at a university.
We have done indoor pollution testing in many types of offices.
We once inspected a massive hospital building complex were we discovered that chemicals used to deter corrosion in pipes were being released into the neo-natal care unit of the hospital.
For more in depth information on all these inspection and information on what we found click here.
For information on our testing fees click here.
Sometimes building managers suspect chemicals and we find that the odors or contaminates were likely the result of mold problems.
