THE TRUTH ABOUT LICESING FOR COCONUT GROVE MOLD TESTING CONSULTANTS
Prior to 2010, in the state of Florida their existed no license, registration, or regulations, of any type for mold testing specialists. When regulations went into effect in 2010 the vast majority of those un-licensed mold inspectors and home inspectors were grandfathered in and given licenses.
As a result, when the license requirements went into effect thousands of inspectors were quickly and easily grandfathered into the industries.
Many qualified and unqualified inspectors alike were given hundreds of licenses that first year.
ABOUT CHOOSING A MOLD INSPECTOR
When choosing an inspection firm for mold problem diagnosis at your South Miami property, make sure that they are not just licensed by the state. In addition to being licensed, make sure they are experienced, and make sure they are members of the IAQA or Indoor Air Quality Association, and have been tested and approved by ACAC. The letters ACAC stands for the American Council of Accredited. Our inspector is certified by the ACAC.
SHOULD I HIRE A HYGIENIST TO DO MY MOLD INSPECTION?
Industrial hygienists and certified industrial hygienist are also an excellent choice when professional scientific indoor air quality investigations are needed. However, we sometimes run into two issues with certified industrial hygienists. 1) Some are not very experienced when it comes to mold, and 2) They are extremely expensive. If you hire an industrial hygienist, make sure that they have experience working on mold investigations. Contrary to popular belief, not all industrial hygienists conduct mold problem and humidity problem testing. Some for example specialize in testing for asbestos, volatile organic compounds, inorganic toxins, or lead. In fact, many if not most specialize in, and are trained in the investigation of indoor industrial pollutant exposure. Such exposures are encountered by workers in industrial factory settings. As a result, some hygienists are well equipped to deal with mold issues, and some are not very experienced with fungal contamination investigations.
SHOULD I HIRE A HOME INSPECTOR FOR MOLD TESTING?
Home inspectors perform inspections of a properties structure, appliances, and mechanical systems prior to purchase. This as a great service for potential home buyers wanting to know about a houses general condition prior to purchase. Because of their background in building investigations some home inspectors can become good mold inspectors. However, home inspectors must have proper additional training if they are to become good mold inspectors. Unfortunately, many home inspectors are poorly trained in mold, and fail to acquire the proper training and knowledge needed to be good mold inspectors. Many of these guys are full of misnomers in regards to mold. Unqualified home inspectors may give you a false since of security. However, as stated above, with proper training and certification these home inspectors sometimes become excellent mold inspectors. I was a home inspector for 10 years before performing my first mold job.
